USRCCA NW Worlds Qualifier talk...
« on: January 19, 2010, 10:46:06 PM »

Hi All,

Jason has begun planning all the BIG regional events used to qualify for the USRCCA Worlds. Essentially, there will be one qualifier per month somewhere in the country. Most have already been planned, such as the WCC, Rocas Rojas, etc.. but he needs a big NW event. He'd like us (WA, OR and ID) to come together and host a big event in August. The winner of this event (or top #, depending on what he says) will get an invite to Worlds.

This will be part of the new USRCCA Series, which will bring much attention, coverage, sponsorships and more to our clubs and areas.

We need to discuss things, like which weekend in August, as well as location. Who'd be willing to help out?

We're discussing this on WARCRC and ORCRC here: http://orcrc.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6532

Please feel free to post up ideas, comments, location suggestions and all that. The tentative date is August 8th...

Thanks!

From what I'm reading most want to keep it on the west side of WA or Oregon. Makes it sound really fair to ID or neighboring states to us.

I went and checked out Goldendale and it looks to be the best location so far.  Central, private land, good rocks, plenty of parking/camping, motels close, etc...
I posted pics on the ORCRC and WARCRC boards, but am not uploading them all again here  ::)

Little editing work from Eddie..... :drive

I went down to Goldendale to check out the spot this morning.  It is very comp worthy, the rocks stretch for a couple hundred yards and are a mix of different sized boulders to some mono type stuff on top.  The location offers plenty of variety, from scalers all the way to supers.  There is a small creek that runs at the bottom of the gully.

I can stay at my Grandmas house.....LOL,my Mom was born and rasied in G-dale and my Grandma still lives there. There is some great stuff down on the Klickatat river towards Glenwood. There's a nice campground down there called Stinson flats that has a big slab of mono rock next to the river, brings back good memories.

Specifics will be worked out shortly, and I'm in touch with the land owner now. I'll have to chat with Jason about number of competitors, but most likely it'll be limited to 70-90 or so...

Glad we could find a spot in the middle!

Hi everyone!

I've begun building the Goldendale site. Please have a look around and let me know if you see anything that needs to be changed or added. Much of it is still under construction, but any feedback would be helpful!
Thanks!

Great work on the site!  Will the camping be in the big open pasture that served as the parking lot for the w.e.rock events?
