Double Narrowing Stampede Front Wheels
Parts needed:
Stampede front Wheels part #3675
Cut off wheel (lowe's GatorGrit No 9429)
Ca glue
Drill press
3/8 Forstner bit
Start by using the forstner bit. drilling the nut location down half the thickness of material. (I used a 1/2 bit because that's all I had)
Now set-up your drill press with the cut-off Wheel. Set the table so the cut off wheel is behind the Back bead. With the table set you can start cutting the beads off of all 4 wheels. Make sure you keep the wheel as flat and level so you get a nice clean cut.
When you complete that you will have what looks like this.
Now re set the drill press table putting the cut-off wheel behind the front bead. With the table set you can start cutting the beads off of all 4 wheels. Make sure you keep the wheel as flat and level so you get a nice clean cut.
When you finish cutting all the wheels this what you will have.
Now clean all the extra plastic off from the cut area's with a razor knife. Now if you want to dye the rims this is a good time to do it. the dye does not penetrate through the ca glue.
Time to glue them up you will take each bead ring and flip them over and slide them over the center section. Front and back. There is a lip on each ring that will sit flat against the center section. When you get all 4 together it is now time to glue. Run a bead of ca glue on the back side of the bead's the glue will go down the crack and glue the bead to the center section.
You have just double narrowed a set of stampede front wheel's to 1 1/4. If you don't want to narrow them that much you can just cut-off the back bead and glue that up.
